What is worship?
Trevor Rishworth
Is it not putting Him above all, before all, in spite of how difficult that may be or feel? Is it not waiting on God instead of trying to make things happen; waiting for His deliverance instead of trying to fix things in your own strength; waiting for Him to defend you instead of defending yourself, even if that defence may be on the day of judgement? And if that were to be the case, would not the exquisitely terrifying presence of His Glory surely overshadow all possible grievances?
What is worship? Is it not thanking Him at all times; rejoicing no matter the circumstances; celebrating Him and celebrating His exploits through others when you perhaps feel overlooked and misunderstood? Is it not the sometimes painful co-operation with God's plan to work all things together for the growing of your faith? Is it not declaring to Him, "You are good and Your love endures forever!", even when it seems everything is against you? Is it not lingering longer than is practical, whispering His name amidst the cacophony of distraction that can be the momentum of this world?
What is worship? Does it include coming together to sing and praise His name? Oh yes! there is something so special about that. In heaven we will lift up one voice from many tribes and tongues to worship Him!
A worship that involves every aspect of our lives ... I think this pleases Him greatly!
